Family Practice / Cardiovascular Disease

According to the American Heart Association, an important aspect to lowering your risk for coronary artery disease is managing health behaviors and risk factors, such as diet, physical activity, smoking, body mass index, blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose. Blood pressure should be screened at every healthcare visit and at least once every 2 years if blood pressure is less than 120/80 mm Hg. Fasting cholesterol should be measured every 4-6 years for normal risk and more often if there is a higher risk. Body mass index should be measured at every healthcare visit. Blood glucose testing at least every 3 years and discussing smoking, physical activity, and diet at every healthcare visit. The providers at Dr. Dowe Medical Clinic are board certified and trained to screen and evaluate your risk of cardiovascular disease.
